It’s already March and I’ve only gone bouldering once this year. My alltime low, literally and figuratively… In other words time to get my ass of the couch, gather my bouldering gear and head out to a spot I’ve heard good stories about: IJmuiden.
IJmuiden is a seaport and in World War II the Germans built a line of defenses in the sand dunes. Little did they know that these places would become an underground bouldering spot more than 60 years later. Take a look at the images for an impression…

One of my projects, developing and designing a website for elementary school “OBS de Gouwzee”, is finished and alive and kicking. Click on the image to take a look.

Watch this bouldering video of Jason Kehl in Rules of Chaos, Hueco Tanks. Freaking weird but the dude rulez! Watch this movie all you alpinists out there and you know why we boulder. It’s all about the reward we get in the end…

Thought it would be a good idea to take the kids climbing. But since Ashley, girly girl as she is, was invited by her girl friends to go shopping, it was just the two of us. I did take Kaelan to the climbing gym before but he was a bit scared of heights when he was 4-5 years old. Well apparently that has disappeared since he climbed route after route for more than 1,5 hours. He had a blast and even climbed some long routes in the main hall. So I guess means that I will have to sign him up for the youth climb club soon…

Stumbled across a YouTube video with some boulders from the Burbage South area in the Peak district. The first one I think is problem nr. 10 (at least in the old guide) and located on the edge. It looks better in the video than in reality but still a nice one. Second boulder is The Sheep. Tried it a bunch of times in the summer of 2004 but the sneaky bastard didn’t go. Third one I don’t know the name of, but I think Ben Moon tries it in one of his bouldering videos.
